WHAT PERSONAL RECREATIONAL DIVING EQUIPMENT DO I NEED TO DIVE WITH YUCATEK-DIVERS ?
As a recreational diver, it is actually advisable to have your own diving equipment. We have already learned this during our OWD course with our dive instructors. Owning your own system offers numerous advantages. When you know and master your equipment, you gain safety and can, as a recreational diver, focus on the enjoyable aspects of diving.
When renting diving equipment, you are unfortunately forced to use unknown gear that may not be perfectly suited to your body. As a professional diving instructor, I always tell my clients that it can take up to 10 dives to become fully familiar with the equipment and feel secure.
Another important aspect of having your own diving gear is personal hygiene. For this reason, Yucatek Divers unfortunately does not rent fins, booties, masks, and snorkels to its clients. Even with specific disinfectants, we cannot guarantee that there will be no transfer of foot fungus from another client.
The dive computer is also a very personal issue. Not all divers use the same gradient factors, and some prefer the RGBM table over the Bühlmann table. For these reasons, as well as for insurance considerations, I ask my clients to bring their own dive computer.
Yucatek Divers can, under certain circumstances, rent out certain equipment, such as wetsuits, regulators, and BCDs. However, this incurs costs, as acquisition and maintenance expenses must be covered.
