TDI Cavern Diver

The “TDI Cavern Diver” program establishes the foundations of underground diving. The majority of essential principles will be covered in this module, making it one of the most crucial elements of cave diving training. Participants will learn to properly "lay lines" while developing solid fundamental skills and good environmental awareness. In summary, you will learn to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

We will begin to move away from the surface to swim beneath a solid natural ceiling, making a direct vertical ascent impossible. Students will discover new concepts such as placement (considering the team, the line, and the environment), positioning, and subtle communication. We will significantly enhance all levels of awareness and learn to make decisions while effectively managing the workload.

Participants will learn to plan simple ceiling dives, considering the following:

  • The application of the 1/6 rule
  • Principles of total redundancy and self-sufficiency
  • Team dynamics and communication
  • Establishing a continuous guideline to the surface, with the option to connect it to a permanent guideline
  • Emergency procedures and protocols suitable for the underground environment
